combining stark, black and white photography with sparse, poetic text, puncture!
offers a personal meditation on intimacy, spirituality, and the death drive through the lens of sharps play. drawing on georges bataille’s writings connecting erotic experience to psychic self-rupture, this work sees the breaking of skin as (an alternative form of) penetration, disrupting physical boundaries between self and other.
hand-bound in soft black leather, the skin that envelops the body of the text is bound at all corners to a makeshift plinth with fine metal chain. set low to the ground, the installation invites the viewer to kneel before it in an act of purposeful submission.
